Wizkid has added another win to his collections of awards as he won the Best African Act Award at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) held on Sunday.
The Nigerian Afrobeats hip-hop maestro fondly called “Machala” by his gigantic fans was nominated for his hit single “Essence” which he featured Tems who was also nominated for the same award alongside Diamond Platnumz, Amaarae, and Focalistic.

The song “Essence” is the biggest track of his record-breaking album “Made In Lagos” has been widely regarded as the biggest song of the year 2021.
Wizkid has a total of seven nominations in the award and has won three awards at the show.
Wizkid now has a total of 3 MTV EMA Awards which are Best African Act and Worldwide Act Awards 2016 and the latest, Best African Act 2021 making him the most decorated African artist at the MTV EMA awards.

Congratulating the Essence singer on his win, organisers of the event via their Instagram handle, @mtvbaseafrica, wrote, “HUGE congratulations to BIG WIZ @wizkidayo for winning Best African Act! From Lagos to the world #MTVEMA #StarBoyHQ.”
The excited superstar also shares a video of the announcement of his win at the award ceremony on his verified Instagram page.
