FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has called on President Bola Tinubu to release the long-suppressed forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), alleging it indicts former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s wife, Judith, in a N48 billion fraud.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on July 4, 2025, Wike claimed a company linked to Judith received N4 billion monthly from 2015 to 2019 under the guise of training Niger Delta women, totaling N48 billion annually. “If this isn’t in the report, I’ll resign as FCT Minister,” he vowed, challenging Tinubu to make the 2001-2019 audit public.

The audit, commissioned under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari to probe NDDC’s $5 billion expenditure, was allegedly buried by former Attorney General Abubakar Malami to shield implicated figures. Wike accused Amaechi of hypocrisy, noting his wife’s alleged rise from a trader to an “industrialist” via these funds, contrasting it with Amaechi’s claim of owning no property. The revelation has sparked outrage, with 70% of Niger Delta activists demanding transparency, while Amaechi’s camp denies the allegations, promising a rebuttal. The NDDC, overseeing a $10 billion region, faces renewed scrutiny, with a Senate probe slated for July 15.
