Wike Urges Coalition to Stop Exploiting Nigerians for Personal Gain

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike accused the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement of using Nigerians for personal agendas, urging them to cease such tactics.

Wike criticized coalition leaders like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, saying, “They’re exploiting our people’s frustrations for selfish power grabs, not solutions.” He pointed to the coalition’s adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on July 2 as a move to relaunch “politically expired” figures.

Wike, defending President Tinubu’s administration, highlighted 60% of Lagos’ capital budget on roads and 5,000 jobs created, contrasting this with the coalition’s 15 million-vote target, which he called unrealistic. The event, distributing N200 million to 2,000 beneficiaries, reflects a 15% poverty reduction plan.

The coalition, led by David Mark, dismissed Wike’s claims, with 70% of its 1 million members vowing to mobilize against APC’s 20 state governorships. Wike plans a N500 million campaign by Q3 to counter the opposition, amid 33% national inflation and 10,217 insecurity deaths since 2023.
