UCL: Heartbreak for Liverpool as Donnarumma’s Penalty Masterclass Sends PSG to Quarterfinals

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Liverpool at Anfield. The match ended 1-0 in favor of PSG, leveling the aggregate score at 1-1. PSG’s goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, emerged as the hero, saving crucial penalties to secure a 4-1 shootout win.

Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring for PSG in the 12th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Liverpool. Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances, Liverpool couldn’t find the net, with Mohamed Salah’s efforts thwarted by PSG’s resilient defense. The match proceeded to extra time and ultimately to penalties.

In the shootout, Donnarumma’s brilliance came to the fore as he saved attempts from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones. PSG’s Vitinha, Gonçalo Ramos, Dembélé, and Désiré Doué converted their penalties, sealing the French side’s progression to the next round.
