Twelve Injured as American Airlines Jet Catches Fire at Denver International Airport

 On Thursday, an American Airlines Boeing 737-800, operating as Flight 1006 from Colorado Springs Airport to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, encountered a critical emergency upon landing at Denver International Airport. The aircraft, carrying 172 passengers and six crew members, experienced engine vibrations during the flight, prompting an unscheduled landing in Denver for safety assessments.

After a safe touchdown, the situation escalated while taxiing to the gate. One of the engines unexpectedly ignited, producing dense black smoke that rapidly engulfed the aircraft. Passengers reported a strong odor resembling burning plastic, followed by visible flames and smoke entering the cabin, which led to immediate panic and confusion among those on board.

The flight crew promptly initiated emergency evacuation procedures. Passengers were instructed to use inflatable slides and, in some cases, exit onto the aircraft’s wings to distance themselves from the fire. Despite the urgency, the evacuation was executed efficiently, with all individuals deplaning within minutes.
