The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenging the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recently concluded election.

In its ruling, the tribunal stated that Ighodalo’s petition lacked substantial evidence to overturn the election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The tribunal emphasized that the election process was conducted in accordance with the law, and Okpebholo rightfully secured the majority of lawful votes.

Following the judgment, Okpebholo expressed gratitude to his supporters and reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. Meanwhile, Ighodalo has vowed to challenge the verdict at the Court of Appeal, maintaining that he was unfairly denied victory.
