Tinubu’s Endorsement Based on Performance, Not Fear of Opposition — Orji Kalu

 Senate Deputy President Orji Uzor Kalu stated on May 26, 2025, that President Bola Tinubu’s growing endorsements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and among some opposition figures are based on his administration’s performance, not fear of opposition challenges in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at a town hall in Umuahia, Abia State, Kalu, a former Abia governor, praised Tinubu’s policies, including fuel subsidy removal and tax reforms, as bold steps to address Nigeria’s economic challenges, despite public hardship.

Kalu highlighted achievements like increased state allocations, infrastructure projects, and anti-corruption efforts as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to progress. He dismissed claims that endorsements from APC governors and lawmakers stem from political intimidation, arguing that Tinubu’s leadership has fostered unity within the party. Kalu also pointed to Tinubu’s engagement with opposition leaders, such as during the ECOWAS 50th anniversary, as a sign of inclusive governance. He urged Nigerians to support the administration’s reforms, acknowledging short-term pains but promising long-term gains.
