President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe, the Presidency has confirmed.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the trip forms part of the president’s end-of-year engagements.
According to Onanuga, President Tinubu will continue his end-of-year break in Europe before proceeding to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates for an official engagement.
He said the Nigerian leader was invited by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, scheduled to hold in early January.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a weeklong global summit that brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape conversations around sustainable development and climate action.
This year’s summit will run under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” with a focus on aligning innovation, finance, and people to accelerate sustainable solutions across sectors.

The Presidency has maintained that the engagement aligns with Nigeria’s broader interest in sustainability, energy transition, and international partnerships aimed at driving economic growth and development.
