Former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu kicked off his 2023 presidential campaign in Lagos on Thursday.
The campaign tagged Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju aka SWAGGA’23 was officially launched in Ikeja yesterday.
Amid the loud ovation, the current Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed his support for Asiwaju’s presidency bid, in his remarks, he said he has the quality to lead the nation.
Sanwo-Olu also commended APC members for their doggedness, action, vision and commitment towards the cause.
“You can see that Lagos has kept the best for the last. With your Action, Passion and Vision the mission is achievable,” he stated.
Also present at the campaign launch, APC chieftain, Senator Ganiu Solomon described Tinubu as a leader who has demonstrated leadership and mentorship, “If we want progress in Nigeria, we have to present Tinubu as our presidential candidate and vote him in,” he added.
In the same vein, Professor of Ecotoxicology at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Adebayo Otitoloju in his address titled ‘Credentials of the next President of Nigeria,’ said “A politician who is able to read the needs of the people, someone who can set up political machinery to achieve set tasks, a leader of leaders committed to the unity of the country. These attributes and more can be found in the National Leader of APC, Tinubu.”
It was gathered that the campaign group SWAGA’23 had on Monday, commenced aggressive consultations with stakeholders and power-blocs in Lagos state for endorsement of Tinubu for President come 2023.
The group commenced a week-long sensitization, consultations and mobilisation tour in Lagos with visits to traditional rulers in Badagry, Ikeja, and Lagos divisions, soliciting their support.
With this campaign group, and posters of Asiwaju posted across the city of Lagos what many Nigerians considered a joke is practically turning into reality as these major moves have officially established the National Leader of APC as an aspirant for Nigeria presidential office in 2023.
