Nigerian superstar Tems, American rapper Doja Cat, and Colombian reggaeton icon J Balvin are set to headline the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup final halftime show on July 13, 2025, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, in a performance curated by Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin.
The electrifying lineup, announced by FIFA on June 10, 2025, blends Afrobeats, hip-hop, and Latin pop, aiming to rival the Super Bowl’s cultural spectacle for the revamped 32-team tournament’s global audience. The event, a milestone for football and music, celebrates Tems’ meteoric rise and Nigeria’s cultural influence, as the trio prepares to captivate 80,000 fans and millions via broadcast.
Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, brings her soulful Afrobeats sound, fresh from her 2024 Grammy win and chart-topping album Born in the Wild, with tracks like “Burning” and “Higher” expected to resonate. Doja Cat, known for her genre-defying hits “Paint the Town Red” and “Say So,” adds dynamic flair, while J Balvin’s “Mi Gente” and “In Da Getto” promise Latin energy. Martin, a FIFA ambassador, curated the show to reflect football’s universal appeal, drawing from his 2023 Global Citizen Festival experience. FIFA President Gianni Infantino called it a “cultural bridge,” with the tournament featuring clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City.
The Hard Rock Stadium, a Miami cultural hub hosting Beyoncé and U2 in the past, sets a vibrant stage, with Miami’s Latin and African diaspora communities amplifying the event’s resonance. Tems, speaking to Billboard, expressed pride in representing Nigeria, dedicating her performance to “dreamers in Lagos.” The show, produced with Live Nation, includes a 15-minute medley, with rehearsals in Los Angeles. Nigeria’s music scene, from Burna Boy’s 2025 BET win to Davido’s Grammy nods, underscores Tems’ role in Afrobeats’ global surge. The performance, a first for the Club World Cup, aims to redefine football’s entertainment value
