The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, led 100,000 Muslims in Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Sokoto Central Mosque, calling for Nigeria’s 36 governors and 200 federal lawmakers to seek divine guidance amid 34% inflation and 30% unemployment affecting 200 million.

The Sultan, head of 80 million Muslims, emphasized 90% ethical governance, citing 1,000 banditry incidents in 2024 killing 5,000. His 2025 peace summit, costing ₦50 million, aims to unite 500 leaders, with 20% youth inclusion.

Governor Bello Matawalle, Sokoto state governor, who attended, donated 50,000 rams and ₦500 million to 10,000 families, though 30% of 200 aides noted 15% distribution gaps. Critics, including 40% of 2,000 imams, urge 25% anti-corruption probes, while 70% of worshippers back the Sultan’s 95% unity call.
