Shock and Concern in Nasarawa as Police Constable Commits Suicide in Office

 The Nasarawa State Police Command has been thrown into mourning following the tragic suicide of a police constable, Dogara Akolo Moses, who allegedly took his own life under mysterious circumstances. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, February 4, at the Mada Station Division in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, has left colleagues and residents in shock.

Eyewitnesses recounted that Moses had been seen earlier in the day performing his routine duties, giving no indication of distress. However, the atmosphere changed dramatically when a loud gunshot was heard from an office within the station. Officers rushed to the scene and found the young constable lying lifeless in a pool of blood, his service weapon beside him. No suicide note was discovered at the scene, deepening the mystery surrounding his death.

Speaking to Arewa PUNCH, a police source who preferred anonymity disclosed that Moses had entered a private room before the gunshot was heard. His colleagues, alarmed by the sudden noise, rushed in only to find his motionless body.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, acknowledged that the circumstances surrounding Moses’ death were unclear. He assured that an in-depth investigation was underway to determine what led to the tragic act.

“Since the incident occurred, we have been diligently investigating the situation to establish the facts surrounding it. The command is committed to ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to uncover the truth,” Nansel stated.

The sudden death of the officer has raised concerns over the mental health and well-being of security personnel, with calls for increased psychological support within the force to help officers deal with stress and emotional challenges.
