Shizzi Unveils OBG Records, A New Era For Afrobeats

Shizzi

Grammy-nominated Nigerian producer Shizzi has officially launched his record label, OBG Records, short for Ordained By God. The move marks a new chapter for the hitmaker who has long been one of the key architects of Afrobeats’ global rise.

Over the years, Shizzi’s production credits have shaped the sound of contemporary African music, with classics such as Davido’s Dami Duro, Wizkid’s Love My Baby, and Wande Coal’s Baby Face.

His collaborations also extend beyond the continent, featuring work with international stars like Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and Fireboy DML. Collectively, his catalogue has generated over a billion streams, a testament to his impact on the evolution of the genre.

From his early days as a church drummer to becoming one of Afrobeats’ most influential producers, Shizzi’s career reflects the journey of the sound itself, grounded in faith, expression, and experimentation. Through OBG Records, he hopes to preserve that spirit while nurturing a new wave of talent built on originality and purpose.

A Label Built On Purpose And Discovery

OBG Records, he explained, is more than just a music label. It represents a creative home for artists who are driven by depth rather than fleeting trends. The name Ordained By God reflects a sense of calling and legacy, shaped by the belief that music should inspire and stand the test of time.

The label’s first signing, Tayor, is described as the heartbeat of this new movement. Shizzi has spent the past three years developing him behind the scenes — refining his sound, visual style, and overall artistry. Together, they’ve built a sound that captures emotion and melody while aiming for international resonance.

According to Shizzi, Afrobeats has reached a point where its global growth risks overshadowing its roots. His goal with OBG is to reintroduce a sense of depth and authenticity into the music, and Tayor’s emergence is central to that mission.

Tayor’s debut single, Famous, will serve as OBG Records’ first official release. The song is a witty and reflective take on fame, ambition, and love, exploring what it truly means to succeed in an era of instant visibility and social media validation.

The track also anchors the #BetOnTayor campaign, a movement that invites fans and listeners to witness the making of Afrobeats’ next wave, one that prioritizes soul and storytelling as much as rhythm.

For Shizzi, this new chapter is about moving from hitmaker to kingmaker, creating a system that values artistry over algorithms. He believes the next phase of Afrobeats will belong to artists who are bold enough to create music that lasts, not just songs that trend.

With OBG Records now launched and Tayor leading its first wave, Shizzi stands at the forefront of a new vision for Afrobeats, one rooted in legacy, purpose, and faith.
