The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gearing up for a high-profile political gathering in Jos, Plateau State, as Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to visit the state to formally welcome new defectors into the ruling party.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, announced the Vice President’s planned visit during the party’s Strategic Stakeholders Meeting held at the Crest Hotel Conference Hall in Jos.

According to Nentawe, Shettima’s visit is scheduled to take place within the next two weeks as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s internal structures and consolidate its growing political influence across Plateau State.

“We welcomed Mr. President about two weeks ago, and now we are going to welcome the Vice President,” he stated.

The APC chairman disclosed that several high-ranking officials—including the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and a number of APC governors, are expected to attend the reception ceremony for the new members joining the party.

“I have spoken with our governors, and many have confirmed their attendance. The Senate President and the Speaker have also agreed to be part of the event. We’re going to have a full house again,” Nentawe said.

Programmes And Grassroots Empowerment

He further revealed that Architect P.D. Gyang has been appointed as Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the forthcoming reception, noting that other committee members will be announced soon.

Highlighting the APC’s continuous engagement with citizens, Prof. Nentawe mentioned that the party recently concluded a medical outreach programme facilitated by a visiting team from the United States. The outreach, he said, will continue under the supervision of local doctors for another week to serve more communities.

He also announced that the APC will launch a ₦100 million business challenge next Monday, targeted at empowering young entrepreneurs and small business owners across Plateau State.

“Some beneficiaries will receive ₦1 million, ₦500,000, or ₦250,000 each to support their existing ventures,” he explained.

Prof. Nentawe assured members that the APC leadership remains committed to impactful grassroots initiatives and political inclusiveness, stressing that such programmes are part of a broader strategy to sustain the party’s visibility and connect more deeply with citizens ahead of future elections.
