The former president of Nigeria and newly appointed chairman of the African Union, Olusegun Obasanjo has said it will cost more for Nigeria to separate.
According to Obasanjo Nigeria would continue to exist despite secession moves.

Speaking at the 85th Birthday of Prelate Sunday Mbang of the Methodist Church on Friday in Lagos, Obasanjo explained that the cost of Nigeria break up will be devastating.
“I want to assure you that Nigeria will continue to exist because the cost for Nigeria not to continue to exist is much more than the cost for us to make Nigeria continue to exist.
“There are many people high and low who can be described as enemies of Nigeria but they will not win over those who are friends of Nigeria.”

Likewise, the Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has also said that Nigeria will lose more if it breaks up.
This is coming amid agitation by influential agitator groups in Nigeria calling for Nigeria break up. Nnamdi Kanu leading the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group wants Biafra out of Nigeria and Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho agitating for the Yoruba Nation exit from Nigeria.
However, Kanu is detained by the Department of State Services, DSS, while Igboho is locked up in the n Benin Republic.
