Rudeboy Declares War on X User After Explosive Rape Allegation

Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy from the iconic music duo P-Square, has threatened to sue an X (formerly Twitter) user over allegations that he raped his former housemaid.

The singer made the statement after a series of posts about his wife Ivy Ifeoma’s 25th birthday celebrations turned sour online, sparking an unexpected controversy.

On September 23, social media was buzzing with videos and photos from Ivy Ifeoma’s birthday celebration. Okoye’s public display of love for his wife, showering her with gifts and heartfelt words, drew admiration from many fans.

But soon, the online conversation shifted. Some users accused Okoye of cheating on his wife in the past, and one user went further, claiming that the singer had coerced his housemaid into sex.

“Didn’t he also cheat on his wife with her housemaid?” one user wrote.

Another user, identified as @Chubbydiva, escalated the allegation by writing: “Raped/coerced their domestic help. She’s the help, so how could she say no? Plus, she was most likely wayyy younger. When he found out, he sent his wife and sister-in-law at the time out of the house. Very yanmayanma nigga.”

The comment quickly went viral, with many social media users debating whether the allegations were true or just another case of online character assassination.

Rudeboy Fires Back: “I Will Find You”

Paul Okoye did not stay silent for long. In a strongly worded post on X, he warned that he would pursue the matter legally, using every resource available to him.

“I hardly reply, but you see this one @chubbydiva, if you like, go private, leave X, I will find you,” he wrote.

“I will use every necessary means, power, resources, and money. You will face the law, and I will use you to set an example (scapegoat). Your only way out is to leave the surface of this earth and relocate to space.”

He went on to thank followers who drew his attention to the post, vowing that this incident would serve as a lesson to others spreading false accusations.

Shortly after his response, the account belonging to @Chubbydiva was deactivated. However, Okoye’s message suggests that he still intends to locate the individual and proceed with legal action.

Defamation and Free Speech: The Fine Line

The incident has once again sparked conversations about the blurry line between free speech and defamation in Nigeria’s digital space.

Freedom of expression is guaranteed under Section 39 of the Nigerian Constitution, which allows individuals to hold and express opinions without interference. However, legal experts caution that freedom of expression does not cover false accusations that damage another person’s reputation.

Opinions are subjective and generally protected. But when a claim is presented as fact, especially a serious one like rape, it becomes defamatory if it harms the subject’s image in the eyes of reasonable people.

Rudeboy

This is not the first time a celebrity has taken action over defamatory posts. Burna Boy, Eniola Badmus, and actress Dayo Amusa have all threatened or pursued legal action against people who made damaging claims about them online.

Celebrity Image and Online Responsibility

In today’s social media era, a single viral tweet can affect careers, endorsements, and public trust. For artists like Rudeboy, fighting such allegations publicly is as much about protecting personal dignity as it is about safeguarding brand value.

With Okoye’s vow to set a legal “example,” the case may serve as a reminder to Nigerians that defamation, even online, carries real consequences. Whether the matter ends in court or not, the controversy has reignited calls for greater responsibility in how users engage on social media.
