The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed a viral social media video claiming that herdsmen carried out an attack in the state but were repelled by Ijaw youths. The Command described the message circulating online as false and misleading.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the video was fabricated by individuals attempting to stir fear and disrupt the peace currently enjoyed in Rivers State. She stated that there is no report, intelligence, or incident suggesting that Fulani herdsmen attacked any community in the state.
Iringe-Koko said the narrative was a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to undermine stability and create unnecessary tension among residents.
The Command called on residents to disregard the circulating footage and avoid sharing unverified information that could raise panic or harm the stateās reputation. It added that spreading false security alerts contributes to public anxiety and distracts from actual policing efforts.

Iringe-Koko said the Police Command, alongside other security agencies, remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state. She explained that operational patrol teams, surveillance units, and tactical squads are actively deployed under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju.
