Gifting is an act of mindfulness. A show of love and likeness. A gesture that could be simply put as a way of telling someone i am mindful of you.
Everybody loves to receive gifts but not everybody knows how to give a perfect gift.
At this junction i think it is time i explain the difference between a gift and a perfect gift. A Gift is what you give just for the sake of giving. Sometimes, you are compelled to give it probably because the receiver is your friend, wife, husband, boss, grandpa or grandma and you know if you do not give a gift for the occasion all hell will set loose. In other situations, you are not compelled to give but you just have to therefore, you just give what you can or what you have access to at the moment. Other times, you did try to put some thought into what to give but you just can’t seem to think of something. So, you resolved to what is available or what you can.
A perfect gift is that gift given at the right time. A gift carefully selected to meet the needs of the receiver at the needed time or would be needed at some point. A perfect gift is that gift that tells a story. It could either bring back sweet memories or a conversation you once had with the person and the sight of the gift everything just came rushing back and ends with a smile.
Again, another difference between a gift and a perfect gift is that a perfect gift shows that you are mindful of the receiver while a just gift does not fulfill that responsibility 100%
HOW TO GIVE A PERFECT BIRTHDAY GIFT?
Humans are animals of comfort. We love good, beautiful and relaxing things. We love being cared for. So, instead of just giving anyhow gift, why not give something either small or big that echoes the gesture of i care.
To give a perfect gift you must pay attention to the receiver: prior to the birthday the receiver would be exhibiting affection for things they would like to have or possess. They are not necessarily telling you to get it for them. They might just be thinking out loud. Gifting them such a gift would mean the world.
Pay attention to the items they mentioned in a conversation: while having a conversation they tend to mention items they would like to buy. Or during the conversation the moment the name of the item was mentioned they are giving this subtle reaction that shows they would like to have that item. When you surprise them with such an item as a gift they would cherish it as if it is more than what it is.
If you have access to their home you could give an items you could tell they need but don’t have. I once gifted a friend nicely crafted customized dining sets as a birthday gift. He was so excited that he does not knew how to express his gratitude.
You need to know that what makes a gift perfect is not the value of it or its beauty rather it is the value it adds to the life of the receiver and what it says of you the giver.
Giving a perfect gift should not cost an arm and a leg. It can be something as simple as earrings, ear pods, movie ticket, concert ticket, home cooked meal, or even a wrist watch. What matters is what story does the gift tell, what value does it add to the life of the receiver and what does it say about you the giver.
