President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the families of 17 children who tragically lost their lives in a fire that engulfed an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga expressed the president’s deep sorrow over the incident. Tinubu conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved families, the Zamfara State Government, and the school authorities, while also praying for the swift recovery of those injured in the fire.

The president emphasized the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in schools across the country and called on both public and private educational institutions to prioritize the security and well-being of students. He also instructed regulatory bodies in the education sector to enforce strict compliance with safety standards.

“This is a deeply heartbreaking tragedy, and my prayers are with the grieving families. I urge school administrators to implement stringent safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future,” Tinubu stated.

The devastating fire, which claimed the lives of 17 children, has sparked concerns about the adequacy of fire safety measures in religious and educational institutions across Nigeria.
