President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the tenure extension of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, until December 31, 2026. The decision comes after an evaluation of her performance and the ongoing reforms in the immigration sector under her leadership.

Nandap, who was appointed to the position in March 2024, was initially expected to serve until August 2025. However, her tenure has been extended in recognition of her efforts to modernize immigration processes, improve border security, and enhance service delivery.

Under her leadership, the NIS has implemented several initiatives aimed at streamlining passport issuance, combating illegal immigration, and strengthening national security frameworks.

Government sources revealed that Tinubu’s decision was based on Nandap’s track record and the need for continuity in ongoing immigration reforms. The announcement has been met with mixed reactions, with some stakeholders praising her achievements while others believe fresh leadership could bring new perspectives.

With this extension, Nandap is expected to intensify efforts to tackle emerging immigration challenges and continue positioning the NIS as a key player in Nigeria’s security architecture.
