Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been declared ‘at large’ by the Ogun State Police Command following an incident where he and his associates allegedly assaulted government officials.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, nine of Portable’s associates were arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, on charges of felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The accused—Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26)—pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution, led by Sunday Ekong, stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota. Portable and his associates allegedly assaulted three officers of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development while they were carrying out their lawful duties at Portable’s property, Odogwu Bar. The officials were reportedly attacked with cutlasses and guns.
The charges fall under Sections 516, 356(3), 80, 249(d), and 320 of the Ogun State Criminal Code, 2006. Magistrate O. Mofun granted each defendant bail at N5 million, with sureties who must be licensed bondmen registered with the Ogun State government. The case has been adjourned to March 17, 2025, for hearing.
The legal action follows the Ogun State Government’s decision to seal Portable’s uncompleted hotel and building for allegedly violating development regulations. Portable responded by taking to social media, alleging that the government had unlawfully arrested over 20 individuals, including artists and customers, while confiscating personal belongings and vehicles.
As of now, Portable remains at large, with authorities actively seeking his apprehension.
