Orji Kalu Asserts Influence In South-East, Comments On IPOB Leader

Former Abia State Governor and current Senator, Orji Kalu, has declared that he remains the most significant political figure in the South-East region, ahead of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Kalu made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he highlighted his political track record and influence in the region.

Kalu stressed that his achievements and political contributions surpass those of Obi. He recalled his past political victories, including winning two states under the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) and his presidential bid in 2007, during which he secured 4.9 million votes. He also pointed to appointments and positions held by his party members during the administration of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

He indicated that age would not prevent him from seeking higher political office if the opportunity arises. Drawing a comparison to former U.S. President Donald Trump, Kalu emphasized that competence and the ability to deliver on promises matter more than age.
