OdumoduBlvck Faces Backlash Over Global Cultural Impact Claims

Rising Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, known as OdumoduBlvck, has faced sharp criticism after claiming his music has a global cultural impact comparable to Nigeria’s biggest stars.

In a June 26, 2025, interview, the Declan Rice hitmaker, whose 2024 album Eziokwu garnered 50 million streams, asserted that his blend of drill and Afrobeat influences youth culture worldwide, from Lagos to London. He pointed to his 500,000 monthly listeners in the UK and collaborations with artists like Skepta as evidence of his reach.

The bold claim, shared widely online, drew ire from fans and industry figures who argue OdumoduBlvck’s impact, while notable, pales beside veterans like Burna Boy, whose African Giant album achieved 1 billion streams. Social media posts, accused the rapper of overreaching, citing his limited discography of 30 songs against Burna Boy’s 100.

Supporters, however, praised his authenticity, noting his music resonates with Nigeria’s 70 million youths, 40% of whom engage with drill. OdumoduBlvck responded, urging critics to focus on his growth, with plans for a 2026 world tour targeting attendees across 10 countries.
