Nigerian Police Cooperative Launches N5.5 Million Tricycle Loan Scheme for Officers

In a significant move to enhance the welfare of its personnel, the Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi-Purpose Society Ltd. has initiated the distribution of tricycles, commonly known as “Keke Napep,” to interested officers. This initiative aims to provide officers with an additional source of income, thereby improving their financial stability.

The scheme was communicated through a police wireless message dated March 12, 2025, from the Assistant Inspector General of Police overseeing the Police Cooperative Society in Lagos. The message introduced Bulk Stalker Engineering Limited as the supplier of various tricycle models, including tricycle trucks, trike pick-ups, TTI single cabins, tricycle taxis (trike taxi TP7), and tricycle ambulances. Each unit is priced at N5.5 million, with a repayment plan of N90,000 monthly over 60 months, deducted directly from the officers’ salaries via the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The Nigeria Police Cooperative, established in 1977, has a longstanding commitment to enhancing the welfare of its members. By facilitating access to assets like tricycles, the cooperative aims to empower officers economically, enabling them to engage in income-generating activities during off-duty hours. This initiative is part of a broader welfare program introduced by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reflecting the Force’s dedication to the holistic well-being of its personnel.
