In a significant counter-terrorism operation, Nigerian troops have successfully neutralized Amirul Bumma, the chief bomb maker of the Boko Haram terrorist group, along with eight other insurgents. The operation took place in the notorious Sambisa Forest, located in Borno State, as part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds in the region.
The clearance operation, conducted in Bama Local Government Area, was part of Operation Desert Sanity 4. Security sources revealed that the troops encountered the insurgents during a raid, leading to a fierce gunfight that resulted in the elimination of Bumma and his associates.
The death of Bumma, who was responsible for the fabrication of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) used in numerous attacks, is considered a significant blow to Boko Haram’s operational capabilities.
During the operation, troops also discovered and safely detonated multiple IEDs planted by the insurgents, preventing potential casualties and further attacks. The General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Major General Peter Malla, commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to maintain the momentum in the fight against terrorism.
The Nigerian military continues to intensify its operations in the northeastern region, aiming to eradicate the remnants of Boko Haram and restore peace and stability to the affected communities. The recent success underscores the commitment of the armed forces to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens from terrorist threats.
