The Nigerian Army has called on residents of Enugu State to remain calm following reports of unusual troop movements and gunfire in certain parts of the state. The military clarified that the activities were part of routine operational exercises aimed at strengthening security in the region and should not be a cause for alarm.

Reports of gunshots and increased military presence had sparked panic among residents, with speculation of an impending security threat. Some communities feared that the situation was linked to ongoing conflicts between security forces and armed groups operating in the region.

In a statement, the Nigerian Army reassured the public that there was no cause for concern, explaining that the exercises were meant to enhance the readiness of troops in dealing with security challenges. The statement urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and avoid spreading misinformation that could escalate tensions.
