Tanzania VP, Samia Suluhu to become the first Eastern Africa female president.

Tanzanian Vice President, Samia Suluhu Hassan to assume the office of the President to complete the remaining 5 years term of the late President John Magufuli.
This makes Suluhu the first female Eastern Africa President.
Suluhu assumed the office of Vice President in November 2015 as the running mate of the late president John Magufuli and they both got re-elected again in 2020.
Did I mention that she was also the female Eastern Africa Vice President? Well, she broke her record.
According to Tanzanian constitution Act 7, it reads; “(5) Where the office of President becomes vacant by reason of death resignation, loss of electoral qualifications or inability to perform his functions due to physical infirmity, or failure to discharge the duties and functions of the office of President, then the Vice-President shall be sworn in and become the President for the unexpired period of the term of five years and in accordance with the conditions set out in Article 40, and, after consultation with the political party to which he belongs, the President shall propose the name of the person who shall be Vice-President and such appointment shall be confirmed by the National Assembly by votes of not less than fifty percentum of all the Members of Parliament.”

According to a Tanzania celebrity lawyer with the Twitter handle @MaSibanda who’s real name is Ottilia Anna MaSibanda, she said in a tweet “(Interestingly, when referring to the President, the Tanzanian Constitution uses ‘He’. Well, then… time for a pronoun update)”
