Adebayo Faleti Gone at 86.


Yoruba legendary actor, broadcaster, poet and playwright was announced dead on Sunday 23rd of July 2017 in his home at Ibadan, Oyo State.

Pa Adebayo Faleti who’s author of the book ‘Eda ko L’ aropin’, died at the age of 86.

He was responsible for translating Nigeria’s National Anthem from English to Yoruba. He also translated speeches being made by military president of Nigeria Ibrahim Babangida and ChiefErnest Shonekan, Head of National Interim Government of Nigeria, from English to Yoruba. – (Wikipedia)

His credit projects in the movie includes Sawo-Shogberi which was released in 2005 others are Basorun Gas (
2004), Afonja (2002) and Thunderbolt: Magun (2001) to mention few.

He was a pioneer member of first television station in Nigerian, Western Nigerian Television (WNTV) with a great legacy as a broadcaster.

Pa Adebayo Faleti will be missed by all Yorubas’, most especially by Theatre practionals and broadcasters who regards him as a role model.
