N1.8 Billion UBEC Fund Illegally Withdrawn Under Former Kwara Governor Ahmed – Witness Testifies

A witness testifying before a Kwara State High Court has alleged that N1.8 billion from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) fund was illegally withdrawn during the administration of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The witness, a former official in the state government, claimed that the funds were diverted for purposes other than the intended educational projects. The testimony is part of an ongoing trial related to alleged corruption and mismanagement of public funds during Ahmed’s tenure as governor.

The witness’s statement has provided further details into the alleged financial irregularities that occurred during the former governor’s administration. The case has attracted significant public attention, with many calling for justice and accountability.

The court is yet to make a final ruling on the matter, and the trial is expected to continue with further testimonies and evidence. The allegations highlight the persistent challenges of corruption in Nigeria and the importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, particularly those allocated for education and development projects.
