Massive Gas Pipeline Explosion in Malaysia Injures Over 100 and Damages Dozens of Homes

 A devastating explosion occurred on April 1, 2025, in Putra Heights, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when a gas pipeline operated by the national oil company Petronas burst into flames. 


The inferno injured more than 100 individuals and caused significant damage to 49 houses. Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion was so powerful it shook nearby homes, and the resulting flames reached heights of up to 20 stories, visible from several kilometers away.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, evacuating residents and providing medical assistance. Of the 112 people injured, 63 were hospitalized for burns and other injuries, while others received treatment at a nearby Hindu temple. Temporary shelters were established at local mosques to accommodate those displaced by the disaster.

Firefighters managed to control the blaze by the afternoon, but the incident has left the community in shock. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion and have pledged support for the affected residents. This tragic event underscores the critical importance of stringent safety measures in the operation of energy infrastructure.
