Manchester City secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bournemouth to advance to the FA Cup semi-finals, but the win was overshadowed by a concerning injury to star striker Erling Haaland.

The match, played at the Etihad Stadium, saw Bournemouth take an unexpected lead in the first half through Evanilson’s well-placed finish. City struggled to break down Bournemouth’s disciplined defense until Pep Guardiola made crucial tactical changes in the second half.

Young left-back Nico O’Reilly, introduced in the second half, played a pivotal role, delivering a brilliant assist for Haaland’s equalizer. However, just minutes later, Haaland appeared to twist his ankle after a challenge from Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham, forcing him off the pitch.

Despite the setback, City pressed on and found the winner through Omar Marmoush, who capitalized on a defensive error to slot home in the 83rd minute. The victory ensured that City reached their seventh consecutive FA Cup semi-final, further cementing their dominance in English football.

After the match, Guardiola provided an update on Haaland’s condition. “We are assessing him. It’s not looking too bad, but we won’t take any risks. He’s crucial for us, especially with the Champions League coming up,” the City boss said.

Manchester City will now prepare to face Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals as they continue their hunt for another domestic trophy.
