Lawrence Okolie defeated Krzysztof Glowacki in a sixth-round knockout to become WBO world cruiserweight champion

This complete his sixteenth professional fight. During the fight, Okolie makes use of his height and reach advantage to never allow the Poland boxer to get close.

According to The Nation, He started unloading his right hand in the fourth and looked completely at ease against a former world champion.

A pinpoint right ended matters, giving Okolie, 28, his first world title.
Okolie’s knockout came at 46 seconds of the round. He became the first boxer from heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua’s management company to win a world title.

It was gathered that Okolie joined the world of boxing after he saw Anthony Joshua wins the Gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Meanwhile, Okolie was in London at the time working at a McDonald’s.

Speaking with BBC Radio he said “I think I might cry in my hotel room, but not in front of anyone. It’s a blessed feeling. It’s crazy.”

“It’s important that I become one of Britain’s best cruiserweights and I have the opportunity to do that. This was a good win but there are more tests ahead.”

Signed under Anthony Joshua 258 management Okolie now have his eyes on the Heavyweight title. He has already been embroiled in a spicy war of words with Dillian Whyte.

“His ambitions are to go to heavyweight,” his trainer Shane McGuigan said. “It’s very rare that you roll and slip, flashy useless stuff when it comes to heavyweights. The basic, fundamental stuff works for the big guys.”
