A fresh twist has emerged in the ongoing leadership dispute within the Lagos State House of Assembly, as a faction of lawmakers has insisted that Hon. Mojisola Meranda remains the Speaker, despite the return of Mudashiru Obasa.
The controversy surrounding the speakership escalated following political maneuvers that saw Obasa making a comeback, but his return has not been without resistance. Some legislators argue that Meranda’s leadership has been effective and should not be overturned.
One of the lawmakers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated:
“Meranda has been a unifying figure in this assembly. We cannot afford instability, and we stand by her leadership.”
