The Lagos State Police command has charged one of the Yoruba Nation protesters, Ogboni Chief, Tajudeen Bakare with the murder of Jumoke Oyeleke.
The Yoruba Nation Agitators had staged a rally at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota on July 3rd 2021 amid the presence of policemen and soldiers.
On that day, the Lagos State  Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu had addressed the press on present at the venue, he announced that no rally was permitted in the state.
Determined Yoruba Nation Agitators, however, held the rally with their banners displayed and chanted their demands despite the heavy presence of the police and soldiers.
In the order to disperse the crowd the security men fired tear gas canisters and used water cannons on the crowd.
A sales attendant in shoo close to the rally ground, Jumoke Oyeleke was found lying in the pool of her blood after the situation was a bit calm. 
According to eyewitness and family, the vigil was hit by a stray bullet shot by one of the security men while chasing after the protesters but the Lagos State Police claimed the victim was stabbed and abandoned adding that the men of the police force deployed to the rally ground did not shoot life bullet.
On a contrary, an autopsy report revealed the victim was killed by a bullet. 
It was gathered that the police arrested 48 protesters from the incident including Ogboni Chief, Tajudeen Bakare who has been charged with the murder of Jumoke before a magistrates Court in the Yaba area of Lagos State. The Guardian reports
According to Ilana Omo Oodua spokesman, Maxwell Adeleye, in a statement released on Monday, the police had charged the popular Ogboni Chief with the murder of the salesgirl.
The statement reads:
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, has charged the 48 Yoruba Nation protesters arrested on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in Ojota, Lagos before a magistrates’ court sitting in Yaba.
“They were charged for unlawful assembly, unlawful society and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
“However, one of the arrested protesters, Tajudeen Bakare (the popular Ogboni chief) was charged by the police for the murder of a sachet water hawker, Jumoke Oyeleke, killed by a stray bullet during the protest.
“The bail granted to all the protesters was upheld by the court, but that of Bakare was revoked. The court refers Bakare’s case to the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further advice.”
