The Lagos State Government has officially discontinued the work-from-home policy for civil servants, effective March 31, 2025.
The decision, communicated through a circular by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, reverses the initiative that had been in place since February 2024 to cushion the economic impact of federal government reforms.
Initially, the policy was extended for three months in September 2024, allowing public servants to work remotely on designated days to mitigate economic challenges. However, Agoro emphasized that with the implementation of a new minimum wage and enhanced welfare initiatives under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the government deemed it necessary to restore full in-office operations across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“Further to the new wage structure and welfare measures introduced by the administration, the Governor has approved the immediate cancellation of the work-from-home policy,” Agoro stated.
He urged civil servants to rededicate themselves to their duties and enhance service delivery, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening public sector efficiency.
