Kim Kardashian has finally shared the reasons behind her split from rapper Kanye West, saying she ended the marriage to protect her peace and emotional stability. Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kim explained that leaving Kanye was essential for her own well-being and for the sake of their four children, North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago.
“When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay. It changes everyone’s life forever. I had to save myself in order to be a better mum for everyone,” she said.
Kim described several issues she could no longer tolerate, including Kanye’s erratic behaviour and public attacks on her family. She recalled feeling emotionally unsafe and stressed by his unpredictability, which extended even to finances.

In one striking example, Kim revealed how Kanye would give away their luxury cars without notice: “We had five Lamborghinis, and I’d come home and they’d all be gone. He’d give them away to his friends. Then at another point, we had five more, and they’d disappear again.” Such moments, she said, contributed to a lack of stability that made daily life challenging.
From Fairytale Wedding to Public Tension
Kim and Kanye’s relationship began with a high-profile proposal in October 2013 and a lavish wedding in Florence, Italy. However, tensions arose soon after the birth of their first child, North, in 2013. Kanye’s impulsive behaviour, social media outbursts, and public controversies created ongoing strain. By 2016, he had been hospitalized and sought psychiatric evaluation following a series of breakdowns.
The pressure escalated over the years, with Kanye making headlines for his 2020 presidential run and tweeting that he had “been trying to divorce” Kim. By January 2021, Kim decided to file for divorce, which was finalized later that year. The couple continues to share custody of their children, and Kanye was ordered to pay $200,000 per month in child support.

Despite the challenges, Kim stressed that their relationship was not a failure: “An over-a-decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure.”

She also denied allegations that she ever prevented Kanye from seeing their kids, emphasizing, “Every time he has asked, I will always let them see their father. That’s just who I am.”
Kim’s reflections highlight the personal and emotional complexities behind one of entertainment’s most high-profile divorces, reminding fans that even glamorous lives are subject to deeply human struggles.
