The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered 142 cases of applicants attempting to gain admission into universities in Kano State using fraudulent Advanced Level (A-Level) results. This revelation emerged from a recent audit conducted by JAMB aimed at ensuring the integrity of the university admissions process.

The fraudulent activities were detected through JAMB’s robust verification mechanisms, which cross-reference submitted credentials with issuing institutions. The board has handed over individuals involved in the scandal to law enforcement agencies for prosecution, emphasizing that universities found admitting students with fake credentials will be considered complicit in academic fraud.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, reiterated the board’s zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice and falsification of results. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the credibility of Nigeria’s educational system and warned prospective students against engaging in fraudulent practices, noting that such actions have severe consequences, including legal prosecution and disqualification from future admissions.
