Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Meet President Trump at the White House

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit the White House on Monday for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

This visit comes shortly after the U.S. imposed a 17% tariff on Israeli goods, part of a broader initiative affecting multiple nations. The leaders are expected to discuss several pressing issues, including the new tariffs, Israel’s trade practices, the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and Iran’s expanding nuclear program.

Despite Israel’s status as a key U.S. ally and a major recipient of American military aid, it was not exempted from the recent tariffs due to alleged intellectual property concerns, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector. In response, Israel has moved to cancel its own tariffs on U.S. imports, pending approval from government finance authorities, to mitigate escalating trade tensions.

The upcoming meeting marks Netanyahu’s second visit to the White House this year and follows a phone call between the two leaders during which President Trump extended the invitation. The discussions are anticipated to address not only bilateral trade issues but also regional security concerns, including the situation in Gaza and Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
