The Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa today presented cheques to the various winners in various categories of the Debate and Quiz competition held recently at the Pan Atlantic University (PAU).
The Council Boss who was elated at the performance of the students from both Primary and Secondary Schools, assured of the administration’s commitment towards uplifting educational standards in the Local Government Area. In the words of Hon. Olowa, “there is no legacy that can be bequeathed to an individual which can be equated to education”. He charged the students to work hard continuously as the future is bright and that the sky is not just their limits. The Council Chairman seized the opportunity to appreciate the management of the Pan Atlantic University for their efforts towards educational success in Ibeju Lekki Local Government while using the occasion to inform Science students of on organized tutorials which will be taking place soon at the Citadel.
Presentations of cheques were done to the various schools that came tops in the competition. Community Primary School, Lakowe came first in the quiz competition with a prize of N100,000 while RCM Primary School Orimedu came second taking home N50,000. In the debate category, Elemoro community Junior Secondary School clinched the coveted prize of N150,000 while Magbon Alade Junior Secondary School came second with N50,000. In the senior school category, Ibeju Senior High School carted home a grand prize of N200,000 while Community Senior High School, Akodo came second with N100,000. In the quiz competition for Primary Schools, RCM Primary School, Ibeju came first with a prize of N100,000 while RCM Ayeteju clinched N50,000. Also in the quiz category, Elemoro Junior Secondary School came first with a prize of N150,000 while Magbon Alade Junior Secondary School came second with a prize of N50,000. In the senior category, Community High School, Akodo won the grand prize of N200,000 as iwerekun Community High School went home with N100,000.
The Council-Manager, Engr. Olubunmi Akitoye charged the students to do more by making their teachers and the Council Chairman proud of their academics while the Council Leader, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka capped it with his closing remarks by acknowledging the efforts of the Council Chairman as it has been a while, an educational policy of this magnitude manifested. The Council Leader called for more support for the Council Boss while charging the students to do more.
Present at the ceremony was the Head of Department, Education, Mr. Akeem Adekoya, the Education Committee members, Headteachers of the various schools and the student representatives.
