The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ibeju Lekki Chapter, today celebrated the annual National Youth Day with the Theme, Channelling Youth Focus Through Entrepreneurship and Agriculture.
In his welcome address, the NYCN coordinator, Ambassador Ramoni Fatai extolled the virtues of the Youths as he aptly captured it that they are the leaders of tomorrow while he advised them to channel their youthfulness into positive thinking and productiveness.
Lending his voice as well, the General Secretary of the Association, Ambassador Junaid Saheed stated some of the challenges being faced which range from the paucity of funds, logistics and welfare, but however assured that NYCN will work assiduously with the Council Mayor of Ibeju Lekki for a progressive and productive youth force.
The Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Engr Abdullahi Sesan Olowa Congratulated the youths for coming up with the program and lauded their Initiative for the week-long program. The Council Mayor exposed the youth body to his four cardinal point agenda which are economic development, social development and security, infrastructural development and environmental sustainability.
Speaking further, the Council Chairman assured the youths that social development focus is on the youths and upcoming younger ones as he has proved this in the distribution of 150 free GCE forms as he is also preparing to do the same for JAMB forms distribution as infrastructural development is ongoing in various primary schools in the Local Government.
In the words of the Council Mayor, the reading culture vis a vis literary and debate will be resuscitated in our Schools. Not just that, sporting activities to fish out distinct talents will be put in place as the Council Chairman solicited the support of the NYCN in a harmonious working relationship to achieve that.
The Council Leader, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka in his remarks applauded the youths for a well-organized program and charged everyone to take the agricultural theme serious as it is a money-spinning venture which can generate income and even foreign exchange for a Nation. He assured the youths that bills that will put the youths on the right pedestal will be legislated on.
In attendance are, Hon. Aromire Rasaq, the Majority Leader, Mr. Opayemi of Agriculture Department, Ambassador Jimoh Ismail amidst several other youth ambassadors.
