Food as one of the essentials of life, cannot be underestimated, particularly at a time there seems to be a projection of food shortage globally. And so, In fulfilling his electioneering campaign promises of giving agricultural production a boost, the Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa today celebrated with the farmers whose areas of speciality involve crop production, animal husbandry and aquaculture in Ibeju Lekki Local Government.
The Council Boss who used the opportunity to sensitize farmers on precautionary measures to take as the third wave of COVID-19 is fast spreading and deadlier than the first and second one, also enlightened the audience on the steps taken so far since the inception of the current administration. 
Some of the steps taken include holding a stakeholder meeting with farmers, visiting the agrarian communities of Eleranigbe, soliciting assistance from the state government through the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and much more.
The Council Chairman decried the poor state of infrastructure like the roads leading to Eleranigbe, the market which is in a  deplorable state, all these, the Council Chairman said, is being looked into as the attention of the necessary authorities will be drawn to it.
The cheers of the audience gathered momentum as Hon. Olowa assured farmers that by the year 2022, subsidies and loans will be made readily available for farmers to enable them to boost food production. As the Council Boss rightly observed, Ibeju Lekki Local Government has the capacity to produce food for its citizens while also hinting them on the proposed fish market which is still in the pipeline, but that a jetty will be built at Okegun Odofin which will serve as a fish processing hub for commercial purposes. He charged those who run the agribusiness commercially to take advantage of the SME desk created in the Council Secretariat to register their businesses.
The Council Boss took time to inspect some of the agricultural produce which include, cassava, plantains, Honey, yam flour. A vegetable leaf named “Iyana Ipaja” which is believed to regulate blood sugar levels, boosts the immune system was also put on display.
Also present at the occasion were the Council-Manager, Engr Olubunmi Akitoye, Mrs. Ojo Folashade from the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, Heads of Departments.
