Ibeju Lekki: Agog as Governor Sanwo-Olu commissions ultra-modern secondary school.

The Ultra Modern Community Secondary School built by the Administration of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State was today commissioned. Described by many as a Christmas Hamper for the end of the year, the wonderful edifice was indeed a state of the art masterpiece.

The Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa in his goodwill message welcomed His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu and affirmed that indeed, the Lagos State Government is putting Education on the front burner. In his words, “it is no gainsaid that Education with a conducive learning environment is important for the development of any society”.

The Council Chairman thanked all who have made the project come to reality particularly the kind gesture of the Onitedo of Oke Odo, Oba Tajudeen Afolabi Elemoro who donated the expanse land for the project. Hon. Olowa also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards education as he mentioned some of the achievements which includes upgrading and perimeter fencing of Orimedu and Labora Community Primary Schools while paying a monthly imprest of fifty thousand naira running costs to primary schools in the Local Government.

The Lagos State Governor in his speech acknowledged the efforts of individuals who made the dream a reality, as he hinted the audience that for two and half years, the pursuit and commitment towards giving Lagos State children quality Education gave birth to the project which will also serve as a model towards schools that will soon be built across the State as this was a project dear to his heart.

The Governor, who thanked the Onitedo of Oke Odo Elemoro, Oba Tajudeen Afolabi Elemoro for his magnanimity in donating the vast land, acknowledged that the high profile Community Secondary School will make Students fulfil their dreams not only in academics but in sporting talents as well. The Lagos State helmsman equally reiterated that there will be zero tolerance for bullying and social vices in schools as he used the opportunity to plead with the audience to stand for a minute silence in remembrance of the unfortunate incident at Ojodu Grammar School where students lost their lives and to Sylvester Omorodion, a student of Dowen College, Lekki who died recently.

Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu tasked teachers to pay closer attention to students and charged parents not to be negligent towards their children.

The Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, thanked the Governor for the project which she described as first of its kind as he hailed the Governor for his dedication and commitment towards education.

There was March past display and callisthenics as the Governor signed off on a football which signalled the kick-off of the round leather game.

Also present at the occasion were the Vice Chairman, Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, Leader of the Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, Hon. Rasak Bamidele Kasali, Council Chairman, Lekki LCDA, His Excellency, Alhaji Bode Oyedele, Member, House of Representatives, Hon. Bayo Balogun, Hon. Mojeed Fatai, Hon. Raheem Kazeem Adewale, Hon. Gbenga Balogun, Party Apex Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Directors, Permanent Secretaries, Management and Staff of Ibeju Lekki Local Government.
