The Celebration in office at the completion of a hundred days of the Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa led Administration took place today 18rh of November, 2021 at the Council Secretariat, Igando Oloja, Ibeju Lekki.
The occasion which drew a great crowd had in attendance, Royal Fathers, Technocrats, Artisans, Civil Servants, Student Bodies, Captains of Industries and many more who witnessed the grand occasion.
While giving his welcome address, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa acknowledged that indeed, governance at the grassroots is one of the opportunities Federalism has bestowed upon the people which gives the people the privilege of having direct access to power, making it easy to channel their needs to delegated authorities.
The Council Mayor who hinged the success recorded so far by the administration on the 4 key agenda which are Infrastructural Development, Social Development and Security, Local Economic Development and Environmental Sustainability also took time to enlighten the audience on the achievements recorded so far.
Parts of the success recorded so far in Infrastructural Development include the Road stabilization project of Ayeteju/Igando Oloja Road, the Ibeju township road enroute Iba and the palace road, the Akodo Ring road, Kajola Township road, as Lakowe/Losoro road stabilization project will be next in line.
Moreover, he touched on the aspects of Health and steps taken so far as the procurement of an ambulance, employment of doctors and ensuring regular power supply by the provision of diesel to power generator sets in all PHC’s.
Of interest is the Environmental Sustainability Project which has facilitated the employment of thirty gardeners, two hundred and fifty street sweepers as the Council Mayor took the opportunity to appeal to residents and indigents on the need to patronize the PSP’S as the Bill prohibiting open defecation has been passed into law and offenders will be prosecuted.
However, education to the Council Chairman is of topmost priority as much has been done by increasing the imprest of teachers from the initial 30,000 the Council Mayor was paying to 50,000. Perimeter fencing in some of the primary schools have been constructed as more structures will be raised soonest. To further prove that Education is on the front burner, 150 free GCE forms were distributed and JAMB forms will soon follow suit.
With an optimistic mindset, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa assured the audience that, with the right footing of the enumeration exercise which recorded success with over 80,000 Business captured, and a data warehouse which will serve as the hub for proposed Automated Revenue Collection and Administration in Ibeju Lekki Local Government, then the sky is the beginning for the meteoric rise in the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of the LGA.
The Council Chairman as a servant leader, who understands the importance of appreciation, took time to acknowledge the efforts of the Royal Fathers, the residents and indigents of Ibeju Lekki, the security agencies, the Civil Service under the headship of Engr Olubunmi Akitoye, the Chairman’s Technical team and a host of others.
He specifically thanked the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Tokunbo Abiru for his progressive role towards the development of Ibeju Lekki.
Testimonials came in from various celebrants at the occasion as the Council Chairman received myriads of awards from various bodies present as the Safety First Awareness Initiative Award was presented to the Council Mayor by Hon. Raheem Kazeem Adewale, Member Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ibeju Lekki Constituency 2 as Hon. Shoniyi commissioned the ambulance and the duty vehicle for the Local Security Outfit, Ibeju Lekki Community Corps.
