Heartbreak in Port Harcourt as Young Woman Raped, Strangled to Death

A disturbing tragedy has struck the Obigbo area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where a young woman identified as Ugochi was reportedly raped and strangled to death in her room on Monday night.

The heartbreaking news was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @torty_mercy, who described Ugochi as a family friend and pleaded for public support to ensure justice is served.

Police Begin Investigation at Obigbo Station

According to the post, the incident occurred in Ugochi’s compound, where everyone allegedly fled the premises following the crime. The case is currently being handled by officers at the Obigbo Police Station, while the victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary.

The user said the family is devastated and called on the Nigeria Police Force (@PoliceNG) and the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) to urgently intervene.

“Her family has no one to fight for them,” @torty_mercy wrote. “Ugochi and her sisters are helpless orphans. We are ready to work with the police to unravel the killer or killers. Please help us tag any authority who can help.”

Public Outcry and Call for Justice

The emotional appeal has sparked outrage and sympathy online, with hundreds of users reposting the message and demanding swift police action. Many described the incident as another painful reminder of the growing insecurity faced by women across Nigeria.

“Please help our voices get amplified,” the post added. “We are heartbroken. It’s unending tears and agony.”

The investigation remains ongoing at the Obigbo Police Division as the public watches closely for progress in finding Ugochi’s killer.
