The 14-year-old, now known as Champz, makes his first major move into Nigeria’s music scene
The Balogun dynasty is officially taking shape. Boluwatife Balogun, the 14-year-old son of Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, has made his long-anticipated entry into the music industry with the release of his debut EP titled Champion’s Arrival.
Now performing under the stage name “Champz,” Boluwatife dropped the five-track project on Tuesday, November 11, marking his first official step into the spotlight. The young artist announced the release on social media with a confident post that read:
“11/11: The Champion has arrived. My debut EP Champion’s Arrival Out Now on all streaming platforms!”

Unlike his father’s signature Afropop and Afro-fusion sound, Champz takes a bold detour into rap, Afroswing, and trap, a blend that showcases his lyrical maturity and youthful energy. Early teasers of the project went viral weeks before release, drawing praise for his fluid delivery and composure beyond his years.
Fans can stream Champion’s Arrival on all major digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Audiomack. The project’s rollout immediately ignited buzz across social media, with fans celebrating the teenager’s debut and predicting a bright future for him.

Like Father, Like Son
The parallels between Champz’s emergence and Wizkid’s early beginnings are striking. Wizkid himself started his musical journey at an early age, singing in a church choir and releasing a collaborative album at just 11 under the name “Lil Prinz.”
Much like his father, Boluwatife seems driven by a strong passion for success. While Wizkid carved his path from Surulere to global stages, Champz enters an industry already watching his every move, with access to top producers, media attention, and a built-in fan base eager to see him shine.

Music lovers say Champion’s Arrival signals the beginning of a new chapter in the Balogun legacy. As one fan wrote on X, “The Champion has truly arrived. Wizkid walked so Champz could run.”
With his debut now out, all eyes are on Champz to see whether he can match, or even surpass, the legendary footsteps he’s following.
