The prototype flying car which has been the centre of attraction to many who looks forward to what the future holds finally completed its first-ever test flight between cities, making a key technological milestone.
According to BBC, the test flight took place between the international airports of Nitra and Bratislava in Slovakia, taking off to the skies and landed in 35 minutes.
The hybrid car-aircraft which took two minutes, 15 seconds to transform from a car into aircraft, makes use of a BMW engine and a regular petrol-pump fuel.

The maker of the AirCar, Klein Vision, disclosed that its creation can fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m), and has been able to stay 40 hours in the air so far, with a speed of 170km/h while in flight.

It can also carry two people, with a combined weight limit of 200kg and requires a runway for its landing while the narrow wings of the AirCar fold down along the sides of the car.

The company, Klein Vision added that the flying car completed its 142nd successful landing and the inventor, Professor Stefan Klein, after landing the AirCar, described the ride as “normal” and “very pleasant.”

Klein Vision co-founder, in a press release, said “AirCar is no longer just a proof of concept, it has turned science fiction into a reality.”
He also disclosed the company is working on a model called AirCar Prototype 2, which will boast a 300 horsepower engine.

It is expected to be able to cruise at 300kilometres per hour (186 miles per hour) and have a range of 1,000 kilometres (621 miles).
