The Federal Government has said it will lift its ban on Twitter in a matter of days, after 66 days of suspending the microblogging platform in Nigeria.
According to Channels Tv, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed made the announcement on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Lai Mohammed also disclosed that the ongoing conversation with the microblogging platform has reached an amicable stage, with agreements reached in all areas except three.
According to Mr Mohammed, the unresolved areas are simply a matter of ‘when and not ‘if’ there would be an implementation of conditions discussed.

According to the minister, the pending issues is in relation to the condition that Twitter establishes a legal presence in Nigeria, registered as a Nigerian company with an office address and an employee to serve as the platform’s representative in the country.
However, the microblogging platform did not turn down the proposition in totality but maintained that the earliest it can establish a company is in 2022.

Today 11th of August makes it exactly 66 days of suspending the social media giant in Nigeria by the Federal Government over the deletion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s breaching of the platform’s users rules.
