Federal Executive Council Approves ₦660 Billion for Rehabilitation and Completion of Federal Highway Projects

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has sanctioned the allocation of ₦660 billion for the rehabilitation, rescoping, and completion of 13 critical federal highway projects across Nigeria. This decision aims to enhance the nation’s road infrastructure, addressing projects inherited from previous administrations.

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced the approvals during a press briefing at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, following the 25th FEC meeting. He emphasized that these projects are pivotal for improving transportation networks, boosting economic activities, and ensuring the safety of road users.

The approved projects encompass various regions, targeting roads that have deteriorated over time due to neglect, heavy usage, and environmental factors. The rehabilitation efforts are expected to facilitate smoother movement of goods and people, thereby contributing to national development.

Minister Umahi underscored the government’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in executing these projects. He assured that reputable contractors would be engaged, and stringent monitoring mechanisms would be implemented to ensure adherence to quality standards and timely completion.

This substantial investment in road infrastructure aligns with the administration’s broader agenda to revitalize critical sectors, stimulate economic growth, and improve the living standards of Nigerians.
