FCT Minister Explores Italian Collaboration for Advancements in Agriculture and Vocational Education

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has embarked on a strategic visit to Italy to foster collaborations aimed at enhancing agricultural practices and vocational education in Nigeria.

During his visit, Wike is scheduled to engage in a series of high-level meetings, including discussions with Attilio Fontana, the President of the Lombardy Region. Lombardy, recognized as one of Europe’s most economically significant regions, boasts a population of approximately 10 million people and holds the distinction of being the second most populous region in the European Union (EU). It also ranks as the second-highest GDP contributor within the EU.

The minister’s agenda includes exploring avenues for sustainable urban development, tourism, and agricultural innovation. By leveraging Lombardy’s advanced agricultural technologies and vocational training systems, the FCT aims to implement similar models to boost local food production and equip its workforce with essential skills. This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader objective to diversify its economy and achieve food security.
