Ex-APC Chairman Bisi Akande Visits Buhari’s Family in Kaduna

Chief Bisi Akande, pioneer national chairman of the All Progressives Congress and former Osun State governor, led a delegation to Kaduna on August 20, 2025, to condole with the family of late President Muhammadu Buhari.

Akande, speaking at the Buhari residence, described the former president as a patriotic leader whose legacy of service and integrity endures. Buhari, who passed away last month in London at 82, was remembered for his contributions to Nigeria’s development.

The delegation, including Senator Abu Ibrahim, former Sports Minister Sunday Dare, and other APC chieftains, was received by former First Lady Aisha Buhari and her son Yusuf. Akande recalled his last meeting with Buhari in Daura, noting the late president’s robust health and cheerful demeanor, giving no hint of his impending passing. Yusuf expressed gratitude for the visit, thanking President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a dignified burial. The condolence visit highlighted Buhari’s impact, from his anti-corruption stance to infrastructure projects.

The visit underscores Nigeria’s political camaraderie, with APC leaders honoring Buhari’s role in shaping the party. Akande’s tribute, describing Buhari as a rare leader, reflects the nation’s mourning. The event, drawing condolences from across Nigeria, emphasizes unity in grief, as leaders rally to support the Buhari family. As Nigeria reflects on Buhari’s tenure, Akande’s visit signals a commitment to upholding his values in the nation’s ongoing political journey.
